25% Deposit of course fees payable upon enrolment. Fortnightly or monthly payment plan will be calculated. Monthly payments required to remain enrolled in this course.

Entry Requirements

Trainers would prefer you to have interest in the Industry, basic numeracy & literacy skills, basic computer skills and good communication skills.

Description

This qualification is made up of 7 core and 6 elective units and is undertaken in class.

To apply to undertake this course from home, please write a detailed letter of request and a pre-enrolment interview with be arranged with one of our trainers.

In Class you get the support of your Trainer, group discussions with fellow students, units worked through and the chance to make study groups.

Classes are held on Monday and Thursday 9.00am – 3.00pm over duration of 6 months (19 weeks).

Workplacement is compulsory.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

These workers

  • Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in community or residential settings.
  • Carry out activities related to an individualised plan
  • Report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers

Pathways from the Qualification

Students could choose to enrol in a Certificate IV level qualification of Ageing Support, or Disability as a follow on from the Certificate III.
