Entry requirements

To gain entry into CHC50612 Diploma of Community Services Work candidates must

Be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition

process, against a community services qualification at Certificate IV level.

Trainers also recommend Great Computer Skills, Time Management Skills and the ability to independently research.

Description

This program is delivered on Saturday once a month from 9.00am – 4.00pm over a duration of 2 years. Trainers are available for students Thurs/Fri Mornings 9.00am – 12.00pm by phone/email/face-to face.

This Qualification is comprised of 8 core units and 8 electives, these 16 units of competency have been organised into face-to-face delivery, with study time and research allocated in between.

The Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers Inc. requires at least 100 hours of practical field placement which can be flexible around the student.

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, coordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

Workers at this level operate at an advanced skill level and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers.
